先日の仕事で悩んだ表現なのでメモ。
ビジネスの文脈で Own a (customer) relationship と言ったら、顧客とざっくばらんに話せる関係、顧客に影響を与えることのできる関係、顧客のあらゆる段階に価値を提供する関係…など、相手とのかなり深い関係であることを意味するようです。
What does it mean to “own a relationship?”
Owning a customer relationship does not simply mean being in charge of the interactions that customers have with your brand, company, or organization. It means consistently providing value to your customers at every stage of their journey. It means having an informative and engaging sales process. It means having an onboarding process that is smooth, comprehensive, and leaves the customer set up for success. It means having support teams who know not just how to answer questions, but how to proactively solve problems as they arise.

What is “Owning a Relationship”?
This is when you have a solid relationship with someone. This means you have developed the relationship deep enough that you feel comfortable having conversations with that person because you already have (own) a relationship.
In this relationship you can candidly speak and be understood. The other person understands the spirit of what you’re saying. They are more open to receive your message and take heed.
Some may say it’s similar to being an influencer. Even though some of the outcomes of the relationship look the same, it is usually different. I should add, many influencers own relationships; however, most people who own relationships are not influencers by definition.

訳すとすれば、困ったときに真っ先に頼られる「お客様の御用達 (である)」とか？
医療だったら「かかりつけ医」、美容だったら「担当美容師」と訳してもよさそうです。
